12.01.2022 – Vienna, Austria: Nextchip, a world-leading provider of highly efficient automotive embedded platforms, and emotion3D, one of the global top automotive in-cabin analysis software vendors, teamed up to provide one of the market’s most efficient embedded platform and software packages for driver and occupant monitoring.
Based on Nextchip’s APACHE5 platform and emotion3D’s CABIN EYE software stack, the solution can be provided for dedicated driver monitoring applications such as driver drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW). As another option, the system can combine driver and occupant monitoring functionalities in one single camera located at the center of the vehicle.
Nextchip’s APACHE5 is an SoC for deep learning (CNN) based ADAS applications. APACHE5 features an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) and an automotive ISP (Image Signal Processor) resulting in a high-performance embedded ADAS processing solution. APACHE5 offers low-latency and an ultra-high utilization rate leading to a variety of opportunities for applications. The collaboration with emotion3D enables an optimized solution for in-cabin analysis.
emotion3D’s CABIN EYE software stack features a wide range of functions for driver and occupant monitoring. Its unique network architecture results in highly efficient processing, even with multiple functions running in parallel. In addition, CABIN EYE works flexibly with any camera and camera position desired. All of this leads to maximum flexibility concerning system setup and function selection for Tier-1s and OEMs.“Our collaboration with emotion3D allows us to offer highly cost efficient driver and occupant monitoring solutions to our customers” says Young-Jun Yoo, Director of Marketing at Nextchip. “Since in-cabin vision systems are an upcoming technology for vehicle safety and user experience, it is a pleasure to work with emotion3D, a professional IP provider in this field”.
Florian Seitner, CEO of emotion3D adds: “We are excited about the collaboration with Nextchip as our joint solution provides a very attractive package to the market. We already see that there is high interest from several parties.”
